When using PACE, all your data are end-to-end encrypted. This means that your data never leave your device unencrypted and it is not possible to decrypt them for anybody else, including PACE servers, than you.
Which data are encrypted?
PACE encrypts all your activities, composed of the GPS recording and the statistics. Your profile photo is also end-to-end encrypted.
Only your username is not encrypted.
What is a recovery email address and how do I configure it?
A recovery email address is used by PACE if you lost your password and can be configured with the following procedure:
- Enter the email address to use for the recovery (Profile settings on the mobile app).
- You will receive an email from PACE with a link to verify the address.
- Click on the link and follow the instructions.
- At the end of the procedure, PACE will give you a PDF with a passphrase used to recover your account. Store this passphrase in a safe place.
- Check that your recovery email address is verified in your profile settings.
If you change your recovery email address, a new passphrase will be generated and the previous one will no longer be valid.
Note that it is not possible to recover your account if you lost your password and did not configure a recovery email address or if you lost your passphrase.
Features
What is the different between PACE and other fitness apps?
With PACE, your GPS recordings and statistics are end-to-end encrypted on your device. This guarantees that nobody, not even PACE, except you have access to your fitness and health data, preserving your privacy.
The other fitness apps do not provide end-to-end encryption for your data before uploading them. As a consequence, anyone with access to their servers also have access to your your geolocation and health data.
Why my GPS location was not recorded during my activity?
If your GPS location has not been recording during an activity, ensure that there was no battery optimization enabled on your device. With a battery optimization enabled, some background activities are paused to reduce the energy consumption of your phone.
Can I use my smart watch to record my activities?
At this moment, you can only record your activities using your phone.
In the future, we plan to investigate how to support activities recording using smart watches. If it is possible to maintain the same level of security and preserve the privacy of the users, we may add support for some watches.
Billing
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
If you lost your password without having configured a recovery email address, you will not be able to decrypt your data any more.
If you lost your password, you can recover your account and data with the following procedure:
- Click on Forgot password on the login screen in the mobile app.
- Enter your username.
- You will receive an email address with a link in your recovery email address.
- Click on the link you have received on your recovery email address and follow the instructions. You will be asked to enter your recovery passphrase.
What payment methods are available?
You can use any payment methods supported by the Play Store on Android and the App Store on iOS.
How can I cancel my subscription?
You have to cancel your subscription on the same service you have used to purchase it: Play Store on Android and App Store on iOS. You can manage your subscription under the profile settings on the mobile app by selecting Manage subscription.
How can I delete my account?
You can delete your account from the mobile app under settings. All your data, including activities and account will be deleted immediately and permanently.
